Our Story

Starting out

Old Chapel Flowers is a family run business based close to Shaftesbury and Gillingham in North Dorset. Founded by me, Sue in 2017, we have a passion for fresh locally grown flowers of which I am always happy to discuss at length.

‘Our Plot’

 In the spring of 2014, we moved into ‘The Old Chapel’ on a plot overlooking fabulous and ever-changing views of the Dorset countryside. The small holding came complete with 2 large growing poly tunnels, originally in complete disrepair and in need of major refurbishment.

Determined to make use of the tunnels we decided that they would be ideal for extending the growing season and this gave me the exciting opportunity to develop my hobby/passion into a business growing and arranging cottage garden style British flowers.

We pride ourselves in growing interesting flower varieties ‘fresh from the field’, and along with the ever-changing seasons this means that no two floral arrangements are the same!

The Workshop

In 2021 we acquired a fabulous Shepherds Hut as the main HQ of Old Chapel Flowers. The original aim was to use this great space for workshops and this year I’m really excited to be holding a variety of workshops.  From ‘Grow your own Cut Flower Patch’ to ‘Gather and Create’, if you fancy trying something new in a beautiful countryside setting, please do get in contact.​
